LEGISLATIVE ALERT
From Legislative Director, Landis
Aden |
ASR&PA LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
14 April 2007
It’s been a busy last few days.
The Legislature has passed, and the Governor has signed:
HB 2469 This bill, despite what you see in the media, reduces the charge for not
having your CCW permit with you to a petty offense. Down from a Class 2
Misdemeanor. We have paid millions for law enforcement computers.
SB 1250 This bill eliminates the requirement for yet another set of fingerprints
with renewal of CCW permit. Seems not all that many people’s fingerprints
change.
These and other bills take effect 90 days after Legislature finishes for the
year, probably May
SB 1258 The “Katrina” bill, prohibits confiscation of weapons. Passed the
Legislature, expect the Governor to sign it next week.
SB 1301 Makes improvements to laws dealing with carry of firearms. Passed
the House, back to Senate for concurrence.
The other major issues facing us now are the Federal Land Management agencies.
Many of you attended some of the BLM hearings. They and the USFS are
implementing large scale restrictions on shooting on federal lands. (Most of AZ)
. This issue is not going to go away. Stay tuned, don’t forget to send in
your comments to the agencies, and your US Senator and Congressperson.
