2010 – ASRPA-BASF
Junior Marksmanship Training Programs
Want to
get involved in a great Marksmanship Program? The Arizona State Rifle
and Pistol Association, in conjunction with the Ben Avery Shooting
Facility, are presenting five Junior Smallbore Rifle Marksmanship
Training Programs. The next class starts
on Thursday, January 28th, 2010.
Additional classes will be held:
April 8th; June 17th; August 26th and November 11th, 2010.
These are complete courses, teaching all the rules of
SAFE GUN-HANDLING
and good marks-manship. Each session uses .22 caliber rifles in
accordance with Official NRA Rules.
Class size =
10.

required!
Location:
The BASF Smallbore Rifle Range.*See
below for directions.
The first session of each six-week course is MANDATORY.
It starts at 5:45 PM on the Smallbore Rifle Range.
That
class is followed by five weekly-sessions of supervised live-firing
also
held on the Smallbore Range; NOTE:
continuous, weekly attendance is not required. Please
call
(or, if emailed, see the next page), for the dates on which we will be
shooting through 2010.

Fee:
$65 – for all classroom materials and supplies for the five
live-shooting sessions;
a one-year ASRPA Junior Membership of $5 a year
is included in the Programs' cost

Time:
Sign-in
and set-up, for the 2nd through the 6th class, begin at 6:00 PM;
shooting
starts
at 7:00 PM, and ends around 8:45-9:00. All younsters, and parents, are
required to participate in range set-up, break-down and clean-up
·
Equipment:
All equipment, including a rifle, one 50-round box of ammo, hearing and
eye protection, and miscellaneous supplies, is provided free for the
five shooting-sessions
·
Age
range:
9 through 20 years old. However, all nine and ten-year-old young persons
must be
sufficiently mature (mentally and physically) in the safe
handling of a .22 caliber
rifle;
and in creating a proper sight picture using front, and rear, aperture
sights.
Acceptance of any student is solely at the discretion of the Junior
Programs’ Coach.

Completion of the Program:
Enables
youngsters to learn Four-Position shooting by participating in the
BASF Sharpshooters' Junior Rifle Club @ a
$24.00 annual fee,
and
(currently) a $4.00 per session fee including the above-listed
equipment and ammo.

*The
Ben Avery Shooting Facility is on State Rte. 74 (exit 223), just west of
I-17. The Smallbore Range is located off to the right side of the
main access road, approximately 100 feet past the second speed bump.
