The 130th Annual ASRPA Washington's Birthday Match will be held Saturday and Sunday, February 19th and 20th at the Ben Avery Shooting Range.
This Match was first fired in the Salt River just south of Sky Harbor Runway 25L in 1892. It has continuously been fired through World Wars and Economic Hardships, and a lot more which caused other Rifle Matches to fold.
This match is certainly for people to try and win, either on an individual basis or team level however the goal of this historic event is to get YOU, and your friends and family out to show support for our State, Country, and the 2A. We also urge you to come out and observe and have lunch both days if you wish.
We will be issuing trophies to the following categories: High Scoring Individual, Top Team, Top Junior Team, Top Woman, Junior, Military/Police/First Responder, and Senior Shooters. Also, a trophy will be awarded to the High Scoring New Shooter (one that has not shot a military style match before).

We have a very able staff that can answer questions for you regarding equipment, safety skills, procedures, etc..
We will have a true beginners clinic which will teach you all you need to know about the match, equipment, the range, and other aspects of the WBM event. Don't be shy about entering this event due to a lack of experience on the range and with matches.
Preferred rifles are certainly the AR15 (which 20 million Americans possess) with open sights, red dot sights, or low powered traditional rifle scope.
Many other military rifles will be used including the M1 Garand, M14, 1903, Krag, Mausers, Enfields, etc., or other semi-auto OR magazine fed military style rifles.
The CLINIC: We will help you with a great knowledge base at the clinic and urge you to field any and all questions and get expert answers with demonstrations.
We also require a solid and positive attitude for safety and applying this to your learning and fun while participating in this great Arizona event. If you have never fired a formal match we certainly expect you to attend this world class Beginners Clinic. You also need to have a basic knowledge of YOUR military style rifle such as its safety features and knowing the safe handling rules with a firearm.Â A good place to start is the Civilian Marksmanship Program Safety
CLICK HERE FOR CMP SAFETY RULES As all shots in the match will be fired at 200 yards, you must have your rifle pre-sighted before the match for the 200 yard target. Just about any range around will have Range Officers that can help you achieve this. Good physical condition will allow you to fire in the sitting and prone positions and will enhance the fun in the match. If you are handicapped in any way we can help you with a special coach (if available) to help you throughout the match.
Not certain firing this match is for you? You can also attend the clinic without committing to firing the WBM match as this might be something you would want to observe and think about....perhaps for next years WBM match or other local matches. You can just sign up and pay the fee for the clinic only and perhaps take a lunch too, and then observe the practice firing out on the range.
